1)为什么有很多人学了英语多年,掌握不少的词汇、语言知识,甚至精通语法,但是他们仍然难以用英语适当地去表达自己的思想? 2)什么是在"炼意(谋篇)中炼句"? 为什么中国学生应当用它作为突破口,从而进一步融合遣词、造句、作文(书面/口头)三者为一体,最后从整体上产生飞跃,达到有效地转换语言知识成为交流的工具的目的? 3)在炼意中炼句的基本规律是什么? 4)英语有那通用的、具有英语特点的句型? 5)为什么说在炼意中炼句是从语法过度到作文的,是转换语言知识成为交流的工具之间的桥梁?

1) Why do many Chinese learners of English, though with a fairly good command of vocabulary and well versed in linguistic knowledge, find that they are almost at a loss to express themselves properly in English? 2) What is this "manipulation of sentence structure in composition"? And why should Chinese students use it as a means of breakthrough in transferring their linguistic competence to communicative competence? 3) What is the general principle that regulates the manipulation of sentence structure and the coordination of diction, sentence structure and organization in composition? 4) What are those sentence patterns distinctive of the linguistic traits in English? 5) Can we say the manipulation of sentence structure isa bridge that spans the gap between grammar and composition, and between linguistic competence and communicative competence? Why?
