This paper discussed the mechanism of spontaneous combustion in No.15 coal seam of No.5 Yangquan Mine, reached the conclusion that the coexistence of subsided column oxidized zone and melanterite and pyrite and the interaction of activated oxidizing activity of coal are the main cause of serious spontaneous combustion, and supplemented and perfected the mechanism that pyrite may promote spontaneous combustion of coal.
