The paper discussed the problem of disengaging of face slab at face slab rock-fill dams. Because disengaging is random and hidden, it is difficult for traditional single point monitoring to identify. Hence, disengaging monitoring with temperature method was presented here. The monitoring principle of temperature method, the laboratory tests and results were introduced in detail.
