In combination with some road embankment project built on a soft ground, it is introduced in detail the monitoring methods of soft ground and analytical methods of predicting the post-construction settlements of a road embankment. It is also explained that how to improve the soft ground when predicted settlement does not meet the design demands. According to the observed settlement information of this road embankment, it can be concluded that monitoring and predicting in time the post-construction settlement is essential to successfully guarantee the road embankment built on soft ground.
