1997年4月至1998年6月对湖南江口鸟洲分布的池鹭繁殖生态进行了调查研究，发现池鹭繁殖巢近800个，密度为350～400对/hm2，95%的池鹭营巢于楠竹和淡竹枝上，98%的个体池鹭在鸟洲附近的农田水域活动与取食，4月中旬迁至江口鸟洲，产卵期7～24 d，满巢卵数4～6枚，孵化率89.1%，孵化期(24±2) d，幼鸟成活率72%.
1997年4月至1998年6月對湖南江口鳥洲分佈的池鷺繁殖生態進行瞭調查研究，髮現池鷺繁殖巢近800箇，密度為350～400對/hm2，95%的池鷺營巢于楠竹和淡竹枝上，98%的箇體池鷺在鳥洲附近的農田水域活動與取食，4月中旬遷至江口鳥洲，產卵期7～24 d，滿巢卵數4～6枚，孵化率89.1%，孵化期(24±2) d，幼鳥成活率72%.
1997년4월지1998년6월대호남강구조주분포적지로번식생태진행료조사연구，발현지로번식소근800개，밀도위350～400대/hm2，95%적지로영소우남죽화담죽지상，98%적개체지로재조주부근적농전수역활동여취식，4월중순천지강구조주，산란기7～24 d，만소란수4～6매，부화솔89.1%，부화기(24±2) d，유조성활솔72%.
The investigation on the breeding habits of Ardeola bacchus on the Bird Island of Jiangkou, Hunan, from April, 1997 to June, 1998 is reported. The results show that in the breeding season, there were about 800 breeding nests, and the population density was about 350～400 pairs/hm2；that 95% of the total of pond herons built their nests on branches of Phyllostachys pubescens and P.henonis; that 98% of the total of Pond herons got food from field and water area around the Bird Island; that the period of laying eggs lasted about 7～24 days and the eggs per nest was 4～6; that the incubation rate was 89.1%, and the incubation period was(24±2) days; and that the survival rate was about 72%.
