Because of its ability to accelerate organic reaction, microwave irradiation technology has been widely used in the synthesis of peptide and its derivatives. The mechanism of accelerating reaction using microwave irradiation technology was briefly introduced. The progress on the synthesis of peptide and its derivatives using microwave irradiation technology was reviewed. The important direction of the application of microwave irradiation in peptide synthesis was suggested.
