According to reservoir protection problems of semideep and deep formations in Western Sichuan, three kind of technologies - temporary shield plugging technology, non - invasive drilling fluid technology and under- balanced drilling technology were discribed. The three kinds of reservoir protection technologies'development, action mechanism, application condition and application examples were introduced in detail. In addition, according to the existing problems in the application of the three kind of reservoir protection technologies, the improvement direction was put forward.
