Fracture-separation of the lower humeral epiphysis is not rare and may bring problems in diagnosis due to the difficulties in interpreting its X-ray films. A better knowledge of the displacement of the radius and ulnar associated with capitellar ossification centre which is pathognomonic of this kind of injury would help avoid misdiagnosis. This paper reports 7 cases of the said condition. The 2-to-21/2-year follow. up study showed that complete recovery was achieved in 3 cases and various degrees of limitation in flexion and extension remained in the others. The authors point out that this is a special fracture of the lower humerus in children, Its machanism and types of displacement are similar to supracondylar fracture of humerus. For the convenience of treatment, we divided it into flexion and extension types, and either can be subdivided into radial deviation, ulnar deviation and median types.
