An anaerobic reactor is used for the treatment of milk wastewater in medium temperature condition. When the influent concentration was 3000 mg/L, the hydraulic retention time was 9 h, the volumetric COD loading could reach 9.6 kg COD/(m3.d) and COD removal rate over 85 %. The results achieved by this experiment would provide a design basis for the anaerobic treatment of milk wastewater.
