Background Fluid resuscitation may be lifesaving in patients with shock for reversal of hypovolemia. On the other side, pulmonary edema often means volume overload and forces the volume therapy into a dilemma. Purpose This review mainly introduces fluid management in pulmonary edema secondary to septic shock. Content Pulmonary edema may represent volume overload and the treatment may run into a dilemma, thus, appropriate fluid management should be considered based on the different stages of septic shock.
