The graft modification of nano-silica is a important measure to improve its surface properties, provide certain functionality, exert its performance advantages and extend its application domains. This paper introduced various graft methods and their reaction mechanism for nano-silica. The graft methods were assorted for introduction according to their polymerization patterns and reaction mechanism. The latest advances in the graft modification of nano-silica were also introduced.
