在活性污泥法中，二沉池占地面积可观。利用悬浮一附着型纤毛填料技术加瑞士高效气浮技术HYDRONET和某市政污水处理厂卡鲁赛尔氧化沟后的辐流式二沉池的沉淀效果的对比试验，可知出水SS小于2mg／L，优于同期该污水处理厂二沉池出水，得出该高效工艺组台可以替代市政污水处理厂二沉池的结论，并可节省土地。
