Emotional intelligence (EI) is a relative new concept. It has an important role in the nursepatient communication. At present, the media have a tendency to overdrawing the scholarly sense of EI. The article contrasts 2 current models of EI , which will help the people to have a more rational understanding . Then, the author indicates the relationship between EI and communication in the clinical nursing , and the application of the EI in the nursepatient communication are discussed.
