Powder cores are widely used in inductance components and transformers because of their excellent soft magnetic properties and frequency characteristics. Compositions and magnetic properties of iron powder cores,permalloy powder cores,FeSiAl powder cores and amorphous/nanocrystalline powder cores are introduced. The effects of process parameters such as powder preparation,insulative coating,compaction and heat treatment on soft magnetic properties of powder cores are undertaken in this paper. Finally,it is proposed that the future study would focus on the development of new preparation methods and theoretical mode research.
