While boosting gas-liquid two-phase fluids,a helico-axial pump is subjected to be degraded in performance including efficiency and head.The degradation is mainly due to the gather of gas inside pump.In order to increase limitation of gas delayed inside pump and the boosting potential of pump,an optimal design method has been developed based on the available analytical model for a gas-liquid two-phase pump in the present study.In this method,gas volume factor α,pressure gain Δp and the integrated index λ are recommended as major criteria of optimal hydraulic design of the diffuser of multiphase pumps.For the design of helico-axial booster-pump diffuser,as an example,it is convenient to select the best one among the designed rectifiers using the present optimal design method.
