Slope failures including landslide and boulder fall occur every year in Hong Kong during the rainy season on man- made slopes. Taking landslide as an example, this paper analyzes some common characteristics of slope hazards and landslide features in man made slopes in Hong Kong. Debris mobility and the relationship between landslides and rainfall are also discussed. A brief introduction is given to the landslides disasters and the landslide preventive measures programs (LPMP) conducted by the Hong Kong government aiming to mitigation of slope disasters.
