A new method for the determination of Propionate in several foods by gas chromatography was studied. It is shown that the content was in a good linearity (r2 99% ). The lowest propionic acid content determined was 0.02 g/kg. The recovery rate was 90.0%-105.0%. It can be applied to determine propionic acid content in food.
