The research status of advantage,crystal structure,mechanism of lithium inserting and electrochemical properties of lithium titanate (Li_4Ti_5O_(12)) as anode material for Li-ion battery are reviewed.And solid-state method,sol-gel method,as well as various other preparation methods for Li_4Ti_5O_(12) are discussed.The research results of doping modification such as single-element doping,dual doping,metal oxide coating and the coating after carbonization of organic matter are summarized and evaluated.The development and application prospect of Li_4Ti_5O_(12) are also forecasted.
