The significance of developing an intelligent CAD system for a hydraulic gate hoist is described. The application of this intelligent CAD technology to the design of a hoist will increase the designing quality, reduce the designing cost, shorten the designing period and speed up product replacement.
Elements in the structure of this system are introduced such as the method base subsystem, the data base subsystem, the knowledge base subsystem, the graph base subsystem, the inference engine, the evaluation subsystem, the failure handling subsystem and the drawing subsystem.
The knowledge expression of this system is detailed. There are two kinds of design information in a hoist design. One is enlightening knowledge, and the other standardizes data, tables and formulas. Therefore the “rule—frame—process” is used in the knowledge base subsystem. The composition of the graph base subsystem is described. An inference strategy of the GHICAD system is presented for finding the best designing process.
