The crystal structures of the AB_3-type La-Mg-Ni hydrogen storage alloys were described,research progress in the material including preparation,substitution of alloy elements and B/A stoichiometric ratio were reviewed. The difficulties of the preparation,poor cyclic stability and development trend of AB_3-type La-Mg-Ni hydrogen storage alloys were pointed out.
