This paper introduces the basic operating principle of geological penetrating radar, takes a high way tunnel construction as an example, describes the ground penetrating radar in the geological advanced forecast in the process of application, explains the practicality, efficiency and safety in short term geological advanced forecast of highway tunnel, can provide more accurate geological information and scientific basis to make better guidance for the construction.
