自从杨氏双缝干涉实验首次证明光的波动本性以来,人们一直以为实现光的空间干涉需要一个相干光源.我们2009年发表在Physical Review Letters上的实验研究表明[1],这一观念并不完全正确.我们设计了一个类似于Gabor的干涉全息实验方案,不同之处是使用了空间非相干光源.为了实现非相干光的干涉,我们对实验中物光和参考光采取了不同的衍射长度或构型,尽管它们的瞬态干涉图随时间呈现无规则涨落,但这些干涉图的统计平均强度分布记录了物体的全息信息.

It seems well known that the performance of optically spatial interference requires a coherent light source since the Young's double-slit interference experiment which for the first time demonstrated the wave nature of light. Here we report the experimental research which contradicts this common knowledge. Our experimental scheme is very similar to Gabor's original proposal of holography, except that an incoherent source replaces the coherent one. To realize the interference using incoherent light, the object wave and reference wave in our holographic schemes travel through different diffraction lengths or configurations. As a result, the hologram of the object is recorded in the average intensity distribution of the interference plane.
