The method for simultaneous determination of Hg and Co was presented.Partial least squares regression (PLS) was used to compensate for spectral "overlap" interference about Co 253.649nm and Hg 253.652nm in flame atomic absorption spectrometry(FAAS).Only the mercury element hollow cathode lamp was used to determine simultaneously Hg and Co in synthetic samples and the results were satisfactory.The method is simple,fast and accurate.
