Thyroid cancer infiltrating the trachea is uncommon, especially in children. Usually, many patients with the trachea involved by thyroid carcinoma died of suffocation, because of respiratory obstruction. This article reports two pediatric cases of thyroid cancer infiltrating the trachea with dyspnea.Subtotal thyroidectomy and circumferential resection of the involved segment of the trachea followed by an end-to-end anastomosis were performed. One case died of pneumonia 18 months postoperatively and another survived more than five years. The authors point out that surgical management is effective and feasible for the said condition.
