With the shortening of the construction period of hydropower project and the enhancement of the quality requirement for the design concerned, there is an increasing demand from all the specialities within the field of the hydropower development design for the 3D collaborative design based on information sharing platform and network. The demand of VPM system platform based 3D collaborative design of electro-mechanical systems and powerhouse can be met by both the CATIA software and its collaborative VPM system platform; of which the framework design concept, the design associativity and the parameterized design are especially suitable to the 3D designs during the feasibility study, preliminary design and detail design as well as the change of relevant plan.
