Related concept of streaming media technology is introduced. According to practical need of safe production in Shandong Mining Co, Ltd. of Sinosteel Group, a design scheme of metallurgical min-ing video monitoring system based on streaming media technology is presented. The scheme has been applied in Shandong Mining Control Center successfully. In the system, the most popular network, streaming media and DLP large screen display ect. techniques were adopted. Functions of video image decentralized acquisition, centralized monitoring and remote viewing were achieved. The purposes to monitor the entire mine surface"no dead ends ,no blind spots" and focus on deployment are realized.
