Objective The model of ischemic rats was made and MK*.801 was applied to observe the change of excitatory amino acid (EAA) and also pathological change in rat hippocampus. Methods The quantity of EAA at different ischemic time was measured by using the improving method of Pulsinelli's and the morphologic change in hippocampus after induced ischemia was studied with the application of MK*.801. Results After induced ischemia, the EAA level raised significantly by the time and MK*.801, a EAA receptor antagonist, could reduce the damage of cells in hippocampus. Conclusion EAA level increased with the degree and time of ischemia. MK*.801 can prevent the damage from EAA in ischemia.
