Aiming at the quality problems of hardwares existing in tractor manufacturing enterprises, the causes, types, features and formation mechanism of contact fatigue failure of 18CrMnTi steel gear on the second shaft in tractor's central transmission system were analysed. The influencing factors of contact fatigue failure of gears were studied, which provide help for tractor manufacturing enterprises to adopt special measures to improve the processing technique of the second shaft gear.
