Water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol film is a novel green packaging material. It is known as a research focus in package trade because of its special excellent characteristics in many aspects, such as water solubility, barrier and environment-friendly. The main ingredients and technological methods of the water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol films are introduced. Meanwhile, the problems of the water-soluble and thermoplastic ability of polyvinyl alcohol films are put forward and the modification methods are discussed in detail.
