Ketamine is a non-competitive antagonist of N-methy-D-Asparte(NMDA) glutamatergic receptor. Available researches suggest it produces impairments of working, episodic and semantic memory along with psychotogenic and dissociative effects, which shows that it impairs cognitive function. It interferes with the function of long-term potentiation (LTP) through NMDA receptor, Nicotinic receptor, GABA and GABA receptor, sodium channel.
