Some of the powerful functions of the georobot(Type-TS30 Electronic Total Station)are described in the paper,with the advanced mode of its GeoCOM interface technology analyzed,upon the basis of which the georobot is redeveloped by using the Visual Basic 6.0 through the GeoCOM interface and applied to the basic survey of the foundation for large structures. Practice shows that this program, which overcomes the shortcomings of traditional survey methods, reduces the errors in the manual observation and helps speed up the observation, is applicable to the automatic observation for the control network and the automatic location and lay-out for the foundation of large structures according to the given coordinate.
