The microstructure deformation mechanisms and damage form of magnesium alloys under high strain rate are described briefly. The research status in dynamic mechanical properties of magnesium alloys at home and abroad are summarized. The research insufficient in the dynamic mechanical properties is expounded. It is pointed out that the important development direction in the dynamic mechanical properties of magnesium alloys in the future are studying the dynamic mechanical properties of existing grade magnesium alloys, studying the impact of alloying elements, processing technique and heat treatment on dynamic mechanical properties of magnesium alloys, and construction of dynamic constitutive equations of magnesium alloys.
