A novel methanol synthesis catalyst C312 developed by the Southwest Research and Design Institute of Chemical Industry was introduced and its performances were evaluated experimentally. Under 5.0MPa, 250℃, space velocity of 10,000h~(-1), and feed gas volume composition of CO 12.0%~17.0%, CO_2 3.0%~4.5%, N_2 1.0%~12.0% and H_2 68%~74%, the highest space time yield of methanol was up to 1.91 g·ml-1·h-1, and total conversion of CO was above 75% in once through. At 8.0 MPa, 250℃, space velocity of 16,000h~(-1), H_2/CO_2 molar ratio of about 3 in feed gas without CO, the methanol space time yield could achieve 0.94 g·ml~(-1)·h~(-1) with a CO_2 total conversion of 22.2%. The excellent activity, selectivity and thermal stability of C312 catalyst makes it very suitable for use in large-scale methanol synthesis units.
