A simple, sensitive novel fluorescence method for the determination of diethylstilbestrol is described, based on the inhibitory effect of diethylstilbestrol on redox reaction between hydroxyl radical and acridine orange in acidic media. The linear range for the determination of diethylstilbestrol is from 0.1 to 50 ng/mL, and the detection limit is 0.03 ng/mL. The proposed method is applied to the determination of diethylstilbestrol in chicken.
