Based on attempts to correct the misreading of Ebenezer Howard＇s Garden City,this article summarizes key ideas and contents of Howard＇s thinking on the garden city,and how Howard applied them to urban problems.In a brief survey of the development of urban planning since the beginning of the 20th century,the author finds that such ideas and contents have shaped the main areas of modern urban planning,and have been extended by its theoretical and practical application.
