贵州六盘水市由于海拔高(1 600 m以上)、气温低、日照少,外引杂交玉米品种多数难以适应,长期采用地方品种单产低,效益不好。从20世纪70年代开始,利用当地农家种质资源水城大黄包谷与外引群改种华中农大杂交,选育出适应高寒山区气候特点,具有早熟、抗旱、耐低温阴雨、抗病的杂交新品种乌蒙玉1号(16-18×22-1),审定编号2009172,006~2007年在贵州省区试多点试验中平均单产8 298 kg/hm2,比对照增产5.4%,为高寒山区粮食增产开辟了新空间。

Over a long period of time low-yield maize landraees were cuhivated in Liupanshui since hybrid maize varieties introduced from other areas could hardly adapt the high altitude, low temperature and sunshine shortage condition. Bred new hybrid variety Wumengyu 1 (approved no. 2009017 ), which adapted to climate of arctic - alpine mountainous area and showed tolerance to low temperature and disease, by crossing local landrace genetic resource Shuicheng yellow corn and introduced population improvement variety Huazhongnongda. During multi - site area test conducted in 2006 -2007 in Guizhou Province, average yield per hm^2 of the variety was 8 298 kg, which increased 5.4% compared to control. Our work explores noval space for yield increasing of crops in arctic - alpine mountainous area.
