In the field of fire accident aroused by lightning strikes, it's difficult to identify the reason of accident since of human damages or seriously burning out by fire. The metallographic method is used to conduct the nonquantified appearance analysis for the characteristics of metal materials' melting points, further, the measurement results provided by the residual magnetic method are taken as the quantified references for analyzing the lightning strikes and fire accidents. This paper demonstrates the application of the residual magnetic method in the investigations of lightning accidents by systematic operation procedure and typical instances.
