This paper proposes a new type of section connection——elliptic section connection, in which the section profile is standard ellipse. Equations for geometric parameters of common shape standard ellipse are derived. On the basis of it, the geometric characteristics of elliptic section connections are analyzed. These characteristics affect contact stress and contact zone. A numerical method is used for the determination of contact stress and deformation in present connections. One example of stress distribution in the connection by the effects of torque is given.
