The paper summed up the advances of potassium uptake mechanism in biochemical molecular fields involved in potassium channel, high-affinity potassium transporter and H~+-ATPase.The potassium transport in plants correlates respectively to the three types of proteins coded by different potassium transporter family.The review focus-es on describing the characteristic of the cloned K~+ transporters and their possible roles in mediating high and low-affinity K~+ uptake from the soil as well as how K~+ acquisition regulated with the different level of K~+.
