The traditional reliability concept of rolling-stock electrical apparatuses is mainly limited to type test,it is a little far from the true connotation of reliability.And there is no quantitative index.It is regarded that improving the reliability of rolling-stock electrical apparatuses would cause the big increase of cost and influence the financial benefit of enterprises.The authors analyze the current situation and necessity of the study on reliability of rolling-stock electrical apparatuses,introduce the requirements on the reliability of rolling-stock relays and contactors and the relevant experiment methods,analyze the relationship between the cost of improving the reliability of rolling-stock electrical apparatuses and the potential benefits.
