The paper introduces the principle and structure of high efficiency permanent magnet universal motor and by using the software of Ansoft Maxwell, takes 500W motor as example to build the model and calculate. Utilizing the finite element analysis to optimize the motor structure, lead in magnetic flux branch, reduce the cogging torque and negative torque and improve the motor efficiency and stability. Finally, the correctness of simulation is verified with the test result of prototype.
