Emodin is the main effective monomer of Rhubarb, which has a variety of pharmacological actions and valuable clinical applications. Emodin posses diuretic and anti-inflammation effects as well as antibiotic anti-viral anti-neoplastic and anti-tumor activity. In this paper, the progress on the pharmacological actions of emodin in the past years is summarized,we hope to provide theoretical basis for the practical application and further research.
