在历史的长河中,儒家的和谐思想在中国人的价值观和人际关系中产生了深远影响.这一思想的核心建立在对长者和优势人群的尊重.在当代中国社会中和谐思想主要表现在"五种基本关系"和"十种人际关系态度"中.这种基本关系和态度调剂了国人的四种人际组合.由于历史和现实的原因,儒家和谐思想演变成了今天的集体主义.对这一思想的赞成或反对并不能评价它的优劣,而只能证实这一思想观点在文化中的延续性和坚韧性.

The Confucian harmony advocated by Confucius is tried and examined by time and history. and it gives a tremendous impact on the formation of Chinese values of interpersonal relationships. The essence ofthe harmony aims at deferring to the superior, which is based upon mutual respect. The manifestations of the harmony displayed in contemporary Chinese society involve the five cardinal relationships and the ten interpersonal attitudes developed by Confucius' disciples, which moisten the four primary relationship groups among Chinese. For the historical reasons and present circumstances, the later development of Confucian harmony - the group harmony or collectivism becomes not only a cultural tradition in Chinese history but also a must for China today. The favoritism or disapproval of the harmony can not be used to evaluate its quality; instead, it is to prove the durability of the culture.
