Contour current is one of the important sedimentary dynamics, the deposits (so-called contourite) of which contain important information of palaeooceanography and palaeoclimatology. In recent years the analyses of new kinds of contourite are the hotspots of international researches of oceanography and climatology. Contour current is the tractive current which flows along the slope. Its erosional-depositional response depends on many factors including the slope topography, climate and so on. The recognition of erosional-depositional dynamic regularity of the tractive current is one of the academic focuses and has important hydrocarbon economic significance. In recent years, great attention has been paid to new types of contour current deposit, the stacking and migrating pattern of contour current deposit and its developing setting and controlling factors.
