This paper introduced the method of earthworks calculation by creating triangulated irregular network(TIN) using point cloud data obtained from Topcon IS201 image-based three-dimensional scanning total station,and made detailed description and analysis to the IS system application in earthworks calculation in Qiqihar Nianzishan East Sea quarry.The practical example indicated that Topcon IS201 image-based three-dimensional scanning total station has the features of easier operation,higher efficiency,higher precision and higher reliability.
