Presented in this paper are the data of 12 cases of infantile hydrocephalus treated in 1984.High risk babies are those born with dystocia,asphyxia,infection and intractanial hemorrhage during perinatal period and they should be routinely followed up and examined by ultrasonography and CT,for early diagnosis and timely operations of either ventriculoatrial or ventriculo-peritoneal shunt.Even in severe cases showing psychomotor delay,provided in the abscence of other disorders of nervous system,shunt operation will obviously improve the retarded intelligence.
