This paper reports an experiment in having all year one students attend an intensive English enhancement programme for 2-3 weeks. The intensity in exposure to English, the variety of themes and activities seem to a motivating factor for students. Self- reports and interviews show that the programme was a success in getting students to use English more effectively and more frequently.
