明代中叶．珠江三角洲桑园围渐渐兴起。广东经济的真正繁荣是从明代中叶开始的，与桑园围兴起同步。近代广东经济的荣枯与桑园围之盛衰，在一定意义上互为因果。桑园圃形成的经济带有明显的资本主义经济烙印．具有近代工业文明的特质。桑园围源于中国古代“天人合一”的精神理念。因此，桑园围不仅仅是一种农业技术，而是生态经济的优秀典范，一种有着深刻哲学、历史、文化内涵的精神资源，历史文化价值很高。是珠江三角洲人民对世界文明的巨大贡献。

In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the land of mulberry fields came into being in the Pearl River Delta, from which the Cantonese economy began to boom. In modern times, the prosperity and depression of Cantonese economy, in a sense, lived with that of the land of mulberry fields. The economy of mulberry fields seems capitalistic obviously and reveals the character of modern industrial civilization. In essence, mulberry fields derived from the idea of ＂the harmony between man and nature＂ in ancient China. They are of great historical and cultural significance to the world as well as their typically agricultural and ecological values.
