The normal European eels were injected and waterbathed by different concentration of inorganic nitrogen. The authors drew some blood from European eels' heart and measured the variation of electrolyte in blood. It was found that chorine ion level in experimental eel' s blood was lower than that of the mormal European eel's blood. The range of decreasing was 20 to 35percent. Meanwhile, chlorine ion ievel in the eels with irritable swimming disease was lower than of the normal European eel' s blood. The range of decreasing was 20 to 45 percent. So the authors infered that there was some relationship between nitrogen in water and European eel's irritable swimming disease.
