The category and characteristics of spacebonre microwave scatterometer of National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA)and European Space Agency(ESA)as well as the progress of these scatterometers were depicted.The applications of ocean surface vector wind obtain from scatterometer in the area of ocean circulation,ares-sea interaction,middle and short range extreme weather forecast were described in details.The availability of resolution enhancement scatterometer data to the mapping,monitoring and classification of sea ice and vegetation parameter assimulation were explored in this paper.The development trend of all-weather,all-time,high temporal resolution and high spatial resolution satellite-bone microwave scatterometers were also discussed.Lastly,a brief description of the SZ-4 CN/SCAT and HY-2 scatterometer were presented.
